5 Easy Tips To Post On Instagram For Your Health & Wellness Business
Marketing for health and wellness businesses has to be authentic. If you have gone into the field it is usually because you would like to help people with your gifts, work on your own timeline, and have the freedoms that come with entrepreneurship. When you get out of school or training it is so exciting to have the power to create healing containers for your future clients! It sometimes can feel like running straight into a wall when you realize marketing yourself is 95% of the work you do and your energy is split between being present with your clients and making yourself known to the world so clients keep on coming.
This is why I am here. This short blog can be a one-stop guide to know if what you’re putting out on Instagram is working. This can also be used for other social networks like Facebook, Twitter, & Threads).
Climax first.
When you’re making reels, long-form videos, or carousel posts put the most important information first. HOOK your audience in the first 1-3 seconds then explain your concept. This can look like recording a reel and editing out the climax or most important information and putting it first in the video. It is okay if it plays through twice. Users generally speaking have social media amnesia and will not realize the clip was repeated and if they do, it’s likely that's why they watched your content all of the way through. General practices should include introducing yourself and explaining your concept after the hook.Be consistent.
While you may have heard this one before I cannot stress it enough. Posting consistently helps you in three ways.
One, you build trust with the algorithm. Instagram is not going to promote your content to new users if it “thinks” you’re not going to post again for a long time. Picking regular times and days at least three times per week is crucial. It is a long game and you have to build some history before you see results. Stick with it!
Two, you will get better and better at making reels and/or posts. The way to mastery is repetition. While you should align with the values of every post you put out they all don’t have to be “perfect”. This is not to say you can post typos and total junk but you can have grace with yourself. You don’t have to be in love with everything you share because we are our own harshest critics. GET THE POST OUT THERE. You are enough and at the end of the day, it is a reflection of your work not you. Have some fun with it!
Lastly, you build trust with your audience. Your social media is like building a house. With every post, reel, story, or highlight you are building walls, door frames, ceilings, wiring, and windows. You are building a place where future customers can always come to experience your brand without spending anything, and with a community where your brand is of common interest. A place they can understand your what, and why - where they can choose their “why” to spend money on your product or service and what is it for them. Create a house to host your community.Timing is everything.
While this is both an art and a science, we can lean on the scientific aspect. When is your audience online? You can check this on all social network business platforms. On Instagram you open the app, click your profile, click “Professional Dashboard”, then “See all” in the upper right corner, then “total followers” and scroll down to the bar graph with the option to click arrows to swipe through hours and days of the week. Pick your initial posting times and days from this data. The more you post the more accurate this data will be. You want to post right before/during any increase in user activity.Establish your brand voice.
Every post should have your brand voice and general theme in mind while creating. Let your mindfulness come through. Especially for small businesses - it is important for your audience to get to know you, your values, and your “why”. You can begin this just by writing down 5 adjectives that describe how you want your clients to feel after becoming a patron. You can have those words nearby when brainstorming ideas for your next posts and use them as a filter to align each post. It is up to you if each post must align with all five or just one or two of these words. Either way, have a system and stay true to it.It doesn’t have to be all at once.
Batch your content. This means you don’t have to brainstorm, record, edit, and post all in one day. In fact, I would encourage you to use your time in 1,000 other ways before doing this. Batching content looks a little different for everyone. I can look like this: Monday, Brainstorm six reel ideas, Tuesday and Wednesday record reels for one hour, Wednesday edit reels for 1 hour, Thursday schedule reels for the following two weeks. Explore and find a way that works for you and stick with it. If something changes you can change.
